Michael and Jennifer Gallagher say the months of research they spent in their kitchen will result in hours of passion in the bedrooms of their customers.
The Boynton Beach entrepreneurs invented the His & Her Bar, which they claim is the world’s first aphrodisiac health bar.
Vegan and gluten-free, the bars are made with no fillers and just seven ingredients: chocolate, vanilla, cashews, almonds, dates, a hint of cayenne and the ingredient that sets it apart: maca (a plant also known as the Incas’ Viagra in Peru).
The idea for the aphrodisiac snacks came to Jennifer Gallagher (who previously ran an activewear clothing line) when she and her husband, a Navy veteran and former firefighter, were out on a run.
“We both eat a bar every day, as the more regularly you consume His & Her Bars, the more you will reap its health benefits from the inside out,” Jennifer said in a press release.
She says people don’t need to lack a sex drive to enjoy them and that the bars do not provide instant gratification, but rather, are more of a healthy lifestyle product that boosts libido naturally.
The couple pitched their aphrodisiac bars on ABC’s “Shark Tank” (the segment aired on Jan. 8) but weren’t able to convince the Sharks to invest. The Gallaghers have not been deterred, however, and say sales of the bars, which cost $3.69 each, have increased with the television exposure.
