1. Maradona in Mexico – Netflix

While Diego Maradona’s documentary directed by Asif Kapadia isn’t available on any of the platforms, I strongly suggest you watch that when you get a chance. But for now, there’s a seven episode docu-series on the football legend’s stint in Culiacan, Mexico. The town is in the heart of the dreaded Sinaloa Cartel and Maradona is hoping to lead its football team, Dorados to its former glory. If you, like me, are hoping to cling on to any last memory of this enigma of a character, this docu-series is definitely a must-watch today.

2. Jallikattu – Amazon Prime Video

There have been times when India’s official entry to Oscars has been disappointing to say the least. While the vernacular industries have been consistent in producing great movies, it seems as though Bollywood movies have gotten more than its fair share of the cake especially during the Oscar entry. But this year is different and with Jallikattu, India really does have a chance at the biggest stage next year. Directed by the brilliant Lijo Jose Pellissery, Jallikattu is a cinematic marvel about man’s greatest sin, greed. Anything I say more, will be unfair to your movie experience.

3. David Attenborough: A Life on our Planet – Netflix

World renowned broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenbourough is over 90-years-old. The Planet has changed rather irreversibly during these 90 years and that’s exactly what he wants to bring to our attention. He has visited every continent and explored some of the largest biosystems on the planet only for it to deplete before his own eyes. He raises some of the most simple questions and even provides solutions that could help save this planet from yet another mass extinction event.

4. Lootcase – Disney+ Hotstar

With so much gloom around you, it is only natural that you may want to watch something that is hilarious and help take your mind off of the real world. Lootcase provides just that in this rib tickling funny tale about a middle class man (Kunal Khemu) who discovers a bag full of cash, only to have no idea what to do with it. How certain parties who claim its their money follow the trail and how it all leads to the man and his wife is the crux of the story.

5. Ad Astra – Disney+ Hotstar

Starring Brad Pitt as Astronaut Roy McBride, Ad Astra is a space thriller about a son hoping to meet his father who as an astronaut went missing years ago. How he remembers his time on Earth and how determined he is to meet his father Clifford is Ad Astra for you. While this is certainly not the best space movie you will watch, soundtrack from Max Richter helps make it a riveting watch and is definitely one to distract you today.
