She just performed in front of millions of people for a shot at landing in the top 9 on the hit NBC reality singing competition “The Voice.” 34-year old Zania Alaké now needs your help to advance.

Tonight were the first live performances of the competition featuring the 17 finalists. It’s now the fourth round. Alaké performed “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande. Here is a link to watch her performance from “The Voice” Facebook page.

“I always knew you were a great singer, but today, this was like, extra level star power,” said her coach John Legend after tonight’s live performance. “The way you approached the song, you embodied that dangerous woman to the fullest. It was sultry, sexy, beautiful, powerful, confident. It was so good Zania. I loved it.”

HOW TO VOTE

It’s now up to America to decide whether Alaké advances to the top 9. You can vote up to 10 times for her via “The Voice” mobile app.

Alaké was born and raised in Detroit and still lives there. She went to Wayne State University for music, but has been working as a banker for the last 10 years. She’s a single mother of a 3-year old and a 2-year old and says she hopes to give up her day job and sing for a living after her journey on the show ends.

We first met Alaké during her Blind Audition of Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love,” which aired on March 15. Both John Legend and Kelly Clarkson turned their chairs for her before Alaké chose Legend to be her coach, something she says is a dream come true.

After the Blind Audition came the Battle Round where we saw Alaké perform the Destiny’s Child version of the Bee Gees hit, “Emotion,” with and against Durell Anthony of Kansas on April 5. Legend chose Alaké to advance.

Next came the Knockout Round where Alaké knocked her performance out of the park of “If I Were Your Woman” by Gladys Knight. “Zania came with a perfect performance at the perfect moment,” Legend said after he chose her to advance over Michigan high school student Rio Doyle.

SECOND MICHIGAN SINGER PERFORMED TONIGHT

15-year old Rachel Mac from Romeo in Metro Detroit also advanced to tonight’s live performance show. We are waiting for “The Voice” to post video of her performance which will be linked here.
