Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t just give passionate rants to her co-star and bestie Hoda Kotb on the Today show.
On July 22, Jenna got honest with her guest co-star Justin Sylvester about a controversial text message during a special game of “He Said, She Said.” After discussing if “guys wearing shorts to the office” was appropriate, the game's wheel stopped on the topic of “U up?” texts. Jenna didn’t hesitate to give her two cents on the subject — but neither Justin nor Today fans watching the segment from home knew where she was going with her speech.
“I’ll just tell you something about a ‘u up?’ text,” Jenna said. “When you are married to somebody for an extended amount of time, you’re no longer texting in the middle of the night.”

She then demonstrated how her kids call out for them both. As viewers may know, Jenna and her husband, Henry Hager, have three children: Mila, Poppy and Hal. “You hear a child calling in the middle of the night from some distant place. You roll over and you elbow the person and you say, ‘You up? You up, let’s go!’ It’s very sexy,” the NBC star concluded.
As it turns out, folks tuning in from their living rooms noticed Justin’s expression change throughout the segment when he realized what Jenna was hinting at. Today fans also admitted that they were confused at first.
“Not where I saw this going! 😂,” one person wrote in Today’s Instagram comments. “Not at all! 😂,” another replied. “😂😂 the way Justin has a moment of panic and then relief and then, pretend like you’re dead 💀 😂😂😂 - I am in STITCHES!!!” a different fan said. “This is absolutely hysterical. You two have great chemistry,” a follower commented.
After realizing what Jenna was saying, Justin offered up unconventional advice that made everyone chuckle. “You shouldn’t have made the first move. You should have pretended you were dead, like a bear was coming,” he said. “You just pretend like you’re asleep that you’re not awake.”
