Before Celeste dipped her toes into the nutrition waters, she worked as a glass mosaic muralist, installing large-scale murals for businesses and personal commissions.

“I have a bachelor’s degree in fine art from UW-Stout which has profoundly influenced the way I play with color in designing both my home and wardrobe,” she says.

Celeste’s creative background is apparent in not only her attire and abode, but also in in the way she teaches people how to use food as preventive medicine.

Describe your style five words or less.

Eclectic, intentional, mostly desaturated.

How does your job impact your daily outfit choices?

Being self-employed, it's my choice for how I would like to represent myself. I tend to embrace a strong feminine essence; I wear long dresses, pencil skirts with tucked-in vintage blouses, blazers paired with sexy black Harley jeans, and hair scarves.

Does your approach to plant-based eating have any influence as it relates to your wardrobe?

Yes, I would say so. I buy mostly used clothes which is in part for my regard for the environment and the problems with fast fashion. Being more conscious of these things is a result of choosing to eat vegan for the past eight years.

Favorite colors, patterns and/or fabrics?

I am drawn to earth-toned colors as well as vintage patterns and fabric. Soft, handmade linen clothing is dreamy to me. I hate that I love so many 1970s polyester patterned blouses -- you might question this statement until you see how fabulous these blouses are.

What are your favorites for the colder months?

I have a small jacket obsession. Good thing we live in the Midwest, I can have so many types for all the seasons and weather situations.

Any tattoos? If so, what are they and what is the story behind them?

I have a large back tattoo that spreads the whole top of my back and delicately wraps around my shoulders. The center piece is a coverup of a memorial tattoo I got for my mom who died when I was 19. It’s an epic mother nature mandala floral and pinecone woodblock print illustration. Poppies and pinecones are two things that connect me with my mama in a subtle way.

How does hair and makeup play a role in your style?

I go off and on with makeup and right now I am all about gussying up.

Anyone whose style you admire/find inspiring?

Bianca Jagger, Janis Joplin.

If you could live in another decade for sake of style, which would it be?

Late '60s/early '70s. I love the quality, patterns and color schemes.

Are you a thrifter?

100%! My favorite place to thrift is estate sale closets.

What's been your best secondhand find?

An emerald green women’s western button-up that has the sweetest detailing in the yoke and collar.

What do you consider a splurge-worthy item?

Anything you feel really good in.

Most sentimental item you own?

My mom's clothes and jewelry.

You can only keep five clothing items - what do you choose?

Black Harley jeans, vintage scarf to tie back my hair, rust-colored high-neck tank top, vintage yellow Levi’s T-shirt with a cool built-in white undershirt with three buttons down around the neckline, and a blouse of my mom’s.

What are the items you think everyone should have in their wardrobe?

Things that make them feel beautiful, comfortable, and competent.

Parting advice/thoughts?

Stop buying fast fashion. Invest in well-made items made by real people.
