Hostages 2 streams on Disney+ Hotstar starting September 9. Here’s what to expect from the new season, and before that a recap for season 1.
Hostages Season 1 Recap
Directed by the acclaimed Sudhir Mishra, who’s worked on movies like Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Hostages season 1 came out in 2019. The crime thriller is based on an Israeli show by the same name. The story revolves around retired IPS officer Prithvi Singh (Ronit Roy) who goes to any extent to save the life of his wife–even holding a family hostage and asking for murder.
This family has Dr Mira Anand (Tisca Chopra) as the mother, who is about to perform an important surgery on the Chief Minister of Haryana (Dilip Tahil). But four masked men, led by Singh, arrive at her home on the eve of the operation to hold her, and her husband and kids hostage. They demand that the doctor kill the CM during the surgery. The husband, Sanjay Anand (Parvin Dabas) has lost their life savings in gambling, the son hacks and leaks exam papers, and their 18-year-old daughter is pregnant with her boyfriend’s child.
While tensions soar through the series, it is finally revealed that Singh wanted the CM killed as the former is the biological father of Singh’s wife. And his wife is sick, hence the murder plan. However, the CM is not dead; he is revived back to life after being pronounced dead, using an antidote. The season ended at the cliffhanger that why did Singh let the CM live, and now Hostages 2 is out with the answers.

Hostages 2: Cast, Trailer & what to expect –
The new season will not see Tisca Chopra returning, but it has a stellar cast nonetheless. New characters join in, each with their own agenda for the kidnapping. Divya Dutta appears as a negotiator from the police’s side, Dino Morea plays an assassin, there’s also Shilpa Shukla, Kanwaljit Singh, Shibani Dandekar, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Aashim Gulati.
‘Khel ab palat chuka’ is what the trailer says, and the tables have turned, now Prithvi Singh is the one being held hostage, as their plan to kidnap the CM goes wrong.
